Why do we care so deeply about the Rio Grande Valley?

Simply put, because it’s home. We see our neighbors struggling and hurting. It breaks our hearts. And we believe it breaks God’s heart as well.

More than 1.1 million people live within 10 miles of the Rio Grande River, and the region’s population grows daily fueled by an increase in young people. The median age here is 28 years old, compared to 36 for the rest of the United States.

The Rio Grande Valley also is among the poorest areas of the United States, including the four poorest counties in the nation. The median income level is commonly low, and risk factors such as poverty and hunger rates are high.

By partnering with you, we can make a difference here together. Children can have food to eat. Families can grow strong. Individuals can grow closer to the Lord.
